Questions for Principals regarding Book Study Logistics:
  • Is the book study required or optional?
  • What happens if someone wants a book, but doesn't want/can't participate in book study
  • What happens if someone works part time but the group is meeting after school, will they get paid for coming back? (curriculum dept did not budget for this circumstance)
  • If I teach in the gifted class/media specialist/special areas, do I get a book and do I get to go to the Samantha Bennett PD? (curriculum dept did not budget for the book and/or subs)
Reminders for Principals regarding Book Study Logistics:
  • When do you get a book and when don't you? (verify with principals that the decision still stands that if you are not a part of the book study, you do not get a book)
  • If someone opts out of the study group from the beginning, but then later changes their mind and then wants to read the book and join the book study, they are welcome to join the book study at any time and get the book, but cannot get Ashland credit.
  • If a teacher does not feel that they are able to join the book study because they may not be teaching literacy, remind them that workshop is a structure that can be implemented in all content areas and that they are welcome to join the book study.

Greensview: 2nd Semester Book study is Blue 21st Century book, possibly still meeting periodically to check in on workshop practices.
